What are they?
Cosmic spherules are cosmic dust particles or “micrometeorites” which originate from space! They form by fully melting as they fall through our atmosphere, creating tiny droplets that quickly cool. Therefore, they are typically spherical, smooth, shiny, and dark in colour.

How can I find them?
Cosmic spherules have been falling all across Earth’s surface for billions of years. They are commonly in Antarctic ice sheets, on the sea floor, and in deserts. You can find them easily in urban spaces upon flat rooftops!

Are all tiny spherules from space?
Sadly, no. There are a lot of “micrometeor-wrongs” out there such as firework spherules and industrial metal, but some are easily identifiable and there are ways of distinguishing them from cosmic dust.
